Use alternate group 3 presentation
Make the rare earth metals only have 14 columns. (57-70 and 89-102) This displays that the angular momentum 3 (f) has 7 magnetic quantum numbers (-3,-2,-1,0,1,2,3), 2 spins each (-1/2, 1/2) = 14 electron capacity. If other words it if you use the periodic table to help you do the electron configuration, instead of the electron tree, it will be correct because the "f block" on the periodic table should only hold 14 electrons.

This is something hotly debated and IUPAC currently has a task force headed up by Eric Scerri dedicated to finding an answer: https://iupac.org/projects/project-details/?project_nr=2015-039-2-200
I recently heard from higher ups at IUPAC that a resolution is not immediately forthcoming. There are a lot of merits to including Lu/Lr inline, which you discussed, but there are also drawbacks. Since I’m not a top academic in this area, I defer to standards bodies and their deliberation process rather than injecting my own original research or opinions. For now, I simply mirror the layout here: https://iupac.org/what-we-do/periodic-table-of-elements/
If that changes, I will not be far behind.
